If you braved the weather in York on Saturday you might have seen our first ever electronic advert(!!!!) It was so stormy apparently we forgot how to take a good picture and so the screens looked glitchy and odd but I would like to just confirm that they looked SO GOOD in person, it was honestly a bit of a pinch me moment for both of us ? Trying to step out of our comfort zones a bit this winter and try businessy things we wouldn’t usually do… Funny that even after over a decade of Happy Pig Designs, we sometimes still need a reminder that we’re a legitimate business and not just two people with a hobby. It’s too easy when you’re running your own business to downplay what you’ve achieved or how much you need to juggle to keep it moving, but something like this is such a cool reminder of what we’ve got here… getting to make things we enjoy making and sell them to people all over the world for over 10 years is kind of crazy. On top of that, now being able to work with other creative talented people and try and build our brand in new ways even if we feel totally out of our depth or like this isn’t something “people like us” do is exactly what we need to do!! Not sure Carrie could’ve imagined she’d have ads up in York when she first started out making blankets at the kitchen table. Just so chuffed and excited for the winter to come really!!! ?????‍♀️❤️

Our favourite pop ups are our heslington ones - we bring everything we’ve got so it’s always packed with repurposed, nearly new or handmade cashmere pieces ??? So please come on down to heslington and maybe have a piece of homemade cake and cup of coffee while you peruse the goods. Nom nom. As always, expect plenty of one of a kind cashmere pieces, PLUS this time a stall of beautiful xmas inspired beeswax candles, handcrafted in fulford(we love local!!!) Textured knit cashmere ? not just pretty - the ribbed knit makes the wrist warmers and gloves stretchier than our regular knit pairs, meaning they’re extra snug without being tight. We have a good few pairs available at the moment.. never for long!

We have been hanging onto these pictures until the weather got chilly again.. and after(finally) getting my gloves out this morning for the dog walk I decided I’m not waiting any longer to show them off. We were so excited when earlier this year @lauraatilimanphotography took these stunning photos of @skyeannageddes in our cashmere. They turned out better than we ever could’ve hoped for(not a surprise as they’re both amazing at what they do) We had a blast picking out our favourite colours and products for Skye to model up in the dramatic Scottish highlands ?? and looking through the final result felt like a proper pinch me moment for us. Over 13 years making fingerless gloves and to finally see them professionally photographed and modelled was something else. Thank you again both of you for braving the wind and rain to get these beautiful shots. There’s more where these came from and I will be posting them as we move through into autumn and winter ❄️

Hello again! We have had a busy summer, and not in the way we expected. What we planned: a summer full of making, designing, and planning for the winter season. This year we were going to be more prepared than ever. What we got: all of this, plus the hugely exciting, distracting news that we are getting not one, but TWO new additions to the happy pig fam(coming winter 26/early 27!!!) ?? nothing like both daughters announcing a pregnancy within 6 weeks of eachother to get us thinking about the winter season even earlier than usual ? we are all very excited, and just to say- these babies will be the warmest most cashmere clad babies EVER as we have been collecting second hand cashmere baby clothes for YEARS now. My hoarding is finally coming in handy!! Safe to say our plans have been slightly derailed(in the best way) but we are so ready for this winter and are no strangers to hitting the ground running when we need to. As usual, the perfect end to the last few months was our annual trip down south which for us marks the end of summer and the beginning of our busy times. So here’s a few pics of our visit, incl our trip to our favourite @charlestontrust ❤️

Been a bit slow getting around to our goodbye 2025 post due to being tired and sick(got a cold boohoo to us?), but that doesn’t matter because we ended last year feeling grateful and inspired for what’s to come?? 2025 was a busy one! 4 new products, 5 of our own pop ups, nearly *2k* pairs of gloves and wrist warmers made… and to top it off countless 5 star reviews from new and returning customers. After a slow(and frankly worrying at times) start to the season, nov/December turned out to be some of our best yet. By mid December we’d made up for the slow start- pretty sure there was a week where we didn’t cross the property line once, just back and forth from caravan to house. Couldve been a fever dream ? Big big THANK YOU to everyone who supported our shop in 2025 and every year before that tbh as you’ve kept us in a job and we love what we get to do every day!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Ps watch this space because 2026 is going to be another busy one xxxxx A & Carrie

Rest assured it will be just like our at-home pop ups, only warmer and more spacious. The weather forecast did NOT look good so we decided to save ourselves the stress by finding somewhere inside, out of the possible wind and rain. Adding more neck warmers to the shop today and looking at the pile of them all freshly made got me thinking about the process of creating them. 1. Someone purchases a cashmere jumper brand new. They wear it, they spill tea down it, they donate it to a charity shop. 2. The charity shop says no one wants a jumper with tea stains, so they pass it on. We step in at this point ? 3. The jumper that was at one time deemed “unwearable” is washed and steamed, with all seams removed. 4. Then we decide what we want to make with it. This time we set aside a lot of cable knit for neck warmers - cable knit makes the BEST textured snood. 5. Once decided, we cut the cashmere to size and choose complementary colours to complete the neck warmer. Scraps are set aside to make scrap bags. 6. Carrie sews the selected pieces together. What was once a few discarded cashmere jumpers is now a one of a kind, recycled neck warmer. 5. Neck warmer is steamed, debobbled, and photographed, then added to our etsy shop. 6. Neck warmer is purchased, posted, and worn for many seasons to come ❤️

We are THRILLED to present to you: the perfect scarf for all year round. Some of them have been backed with superfine cashmere instead of our regular knit, making them even more lightweight and luxurious. They can be worn and styled at least 4 different ways(sustainable - we ❤️ a versatile accessory)and go with just about anything. And they’re just really chic. My fav way to wear it is with the triangle to the front like a bandana ? or with the knot to the side like a classy french lady ? They’re timeless, they’re cashmere, they’re cute AND recycled….. if they didn’t need such big pieces of cashmere she’d have made a tonne of them.. instead, we have added a (very!!)limited drop of about 20 scarves to the Etsy shop NOW! ❤️?❤️

Sewing new cuffs onto “old” jumpers. feels a bit cruel sometimes to chop up a whole jumper when it’s just the cuff that’s damaged… this jumper was perfect everywhere except where the moths got to it, so cutting it all up felt like overkill. the world of clothes making still feels very new and scary but been thinking up new ways to revive jumpers before they get to the “gloves only” stage recently and it’s very very exciting ? #repurposing #repurposedclothing #upcyclingfashion #makingclothing #sewingvideo #sewinghowto #sewingtips

My new fav activity to unwind… unravelling cashmere jumpers for yarn ? if you’re like me and can’t stop picking at things(a loose thread hanging off the cuff of my jumper? Pulled!! Little bit of paint flaking off a wall? Just made it worse by picking it!!!) then this activity could be your new best friend ?‍♀️ All you need is a seam ripper and a jumper you no longer want. The beauty of it is most jumpers are made the same way so once you get the hang of it it’s easy and SO so satisfying. And then at the end you’re left with yarn you can use to repair other jumpers! Doing this at-home market was out of my comfort zone(all of ours really!!) but it was SO. much. fun.
